Expensive Petrol?
These days Electric Vehicles are looking more and more attractive. This week petrol has hit the €1.50 mark across the country and people are starting to panic. Maybe this is a good time to start looking more into our daily driving habits. Can we really afford to use the car when we could just as easily walk to where we want to go? Of course, starting to plan our routes to get more out of our fuel is a difficult transition, but also a necessary one. How many of us live within walking or even cycling distance from the nearest local shop? How many of us rarely make that journey without using the car? Sometimes its just as easy if not easier to hop on a bike. No parking, no petrol, no stress and sometimes its even quicker.
Summer is coming and maybe it would be a good idea to look into an alternative form of transport for the next few months.
Car pooling is another way to cut down on fuel costs. How many of us drive the exact same route as our colleagues to work every day? Even just finding one other person to share the journey with us would cut our fuel costs by half. Of course we all have our routines and we enjoy the drive to work listening to the radio or some music in the car. Of course we all like the independence of owning a car and deciding when and where we want to go without consulting anybody else – isn’t that the reason we bought one in the first place? Relying on someone else for a lift home is not always the best situation to be in, but it does seem that we need to start redesigning our routines in order to save our money and the environment.
