ESB Electric Ireland Under Pressure

ESB Electric Ireland are facing pressure from all sides regarding their decision to block their new pricing system from customers who are currently facing arrears.
According to the Irish Independent, Minister for Eneterprise, Richard Bruton called on the ESB to “reconsider this position”. He continued by saying “I think it’s important we see customers who are the hardest-pressed getting access to this relief, as well as the commercial customers who are in a stronger position”

Electric Vehicles on Aran Islands

24 households in the Aran Islands will take part in a 3 year project to demonstrate the smart metering technologies required to transfer and store wind energy in electric vehicles.
On the 14th of January, the first 8 homes recieved their Electric Vehicles as part of the first phase of the project. The next 8 vehicles will be issued in 2012 and the last 8 in 2013.

World’s First Zero-Emission Centre Located in Dublin

With its official opening in September, the Convention Centre Dublin (CCD) is an example of state of the art sustainable development building design. Its design is in accordance with the International Standards Organisation (ISO) 14001 and will be seeking accreditation within 18 months of opening.
